Acheivements on Nth Stradbroke Island 

I am particularly proud of these Council achievements on the Island:

  • Introduced modified rating system that reined in the runaway growth in rates charges on NSI
  • Worked with all stakeholders to prevent the State Govt extracting additional water from the Island
  • Upgraded the One Mile Jetty carpark
  • Upgraded lighting and surfaces for sporting grounds in Dunwich
  • The lighting of the big Moreton Bay Figtree in Dunwich
  • Replaced pylons and net at Amity swimming enclosure
  • Created the Terra Bulla Leumeah reserve at Myora
  • Extended and upgraded facilities at the NSI Museum in Dunwich
  • Upgraded the caravan parks and campgrounds
  • Worked with stakeholders to create the Dunwich streetscape plan
  • Mapped Point Lookout walking trails and provided signs along the trails
  • Developed NSI Fire Management Plan
  • Lobbied and worked with the State Government to get plans going for the Amity boat ramp
  • Worked with police and State Govt agencies towards minimising the impact of Schoolies and Sept School Holidays
  • Allocated funds for street trees
  • Sponsored the Straddie Assault
  • Implemented the Flinders Beach Management Plan
  • Upgraded the One Mile Jetty carpark
  • Negotiated between community groups and the Stradbroke Hotel during its redevelopment
  • Worked on creative plans for the Point Lookout Hall extension
  • Opened the Amity Point library
  • Worked on Cylinder Beach Master Plan
  • Created a Masterplan for the Amity Point Sport and Recreation Reserve
  • Supported the free Courtesy Bus at Point Lookout at peak holiday times
  • Reduced the speed along East Coast Road through Pt Lookout village
  • Supported the Salt Water Murris in creating a beautiful mural in Dunwich
  • Built footpaths in Rainbow Crescent and near Yulu-burri-bah in Dunwich
  • Replaced bbqs and park benches
